NGC5128 Centaurus A/Hamburger Galaxy

HamburgerGalaxy

This elliptical galaxy is bisected by a dust belt that is a result of galaxy cannibalism of at least one other spiral galaxy over the past few billion years. It is around 15 million light years away and its nucleus has a super massive black hole with a mass of about 100 million times that of our Sun. Even in this rather poor image, the resemblance to a hamburger is discernible.
